Photo metadata
See where your photo says you took it. Then strip it.
Drop a photo. Your browser reads its hidden fields, flags the ones that point to you, and saves a clean copy.
Check what a photo carries
Every photo from a phone holds a block of metadata called EXIF. On an iPhone it can include the exact spot where you stood, the time, and the phone model. Send the original file and the person you send it to gets all of it.
Strip it before you share an ID
Hotels, landlords and forms ask for ID photos. Strip the metadata first, and keep the original sealed. Read how to keep ID photos private.
Does my iPhone put my location in photos?
Yes, when Location Services is on for Camera. Check Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, Camera.
How do I share a photo without its location on iPhone?
In the share sheet, tap Options at the top and turn off Location before you send.
Does this tool upload my photo?
No. Your browser reads the file and draws the clean copy. Nothing goes to a server.
