Apple Notes can lock a note, scans and photos included. For many people that's the first private folder they ever use, and it works.
Use locked notes when they fit
Notes ships with your iPhone, scans papers well, and encrypts each locked note. Lock notes with a separate password instead of your iPhone passcode, and someone who knows your passcode still can't read them.
See where locked notes stop
- Your passcode opens them by default. Since iOS 16, Notes offers your iPhone passcode as the lock. Many people accept it.
- They sync. Notes in iCloud go to every device on your Apple Account.
- Titles show. The first line of a locked note shows up in your list and in search.
- Nothing reads your papers for you. You find a number by opening notes one by one.
See what Vaulteo adds
Vaulteo seals every paper behind a pattern unrelated to your passcode, keeps it on this iPhone only, and puts AI on top:
- AI files each scan by kind, sender, amount and due date.
- Ask "how much is my car insurance?" and get the number with the page.
- Draw another pattern for a decoy vault, or a duress pattern that wipes the rest.
