Tax papers carry your Social Security number, your income and your bank details on one page. They're the papers a scammer wants most, and the ones you need fastest in April.
Scan the stack once
- Make a vault for money papers, or use your main one.
- Tap Scan and go through the pile: W-2s, 1099s, mortgage statements, charity receipts, last year's return.
- AI reads each page and files it: kind, sender, year, amount.
Got PDFs from your bank or employer? Import them from Files, up to 300 at once.
Ask instead of digging
- "What did I pay in property tax last year?"
- "Show me every charity receipt from 2025."
- "Which 1099s did I get this year?"
Each answer names the paper it came from. Open it and check the number before you type it into a form.
Keep what the IRS asks you to keep
| Your situation | Keep records for |
|---|---|
| Most returns | 3 years |
| You left out more than 25% of your income | 6 years |
| You claimed a bad debt or worthless securities | 7 years |
| You didn't file, or filed a fraudulent return | Indefinitely |
| Employment tax records | At least 4 years |
These periods come from the IRS page "How long should I keep records?". Your state may want longer.
Stay offline at tax time
Vaulteo's AI runs on your iPhone, so your W-2 never reaches a server when you ask about it. When you send a paper to your accountant, use Share. Vaulteo deletes the temporary copy when the vault locks.
